MeetEric Gerner & Amber Gerner
Amber and Eric Gerner are both licensed Realtors® in Roanoke Valley and are members of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). They both specialize in residential and luxury homes throughout the Roanoke Valley and on Smith Mountain Lake, but what makes them different is that combined, they make a truly dynamic duo.
As real estate agents who work as a team, they bring the touch of vintage, old-fashioned customer service we all love and miss, then wrap it up in a hip, posh millennial package. It’s like you’re getting the knowledge of a mature older couple in a beautiful young couple who have a wealth of experience behind them, with the wisdom to use their superpowers for the good of their community.
So what makes them so unique? Let’s start with Amber Gerner. One of the reasons that Amber is a rare breed in the industry is that she started her career as a registered nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond. Amber was a nurse for ten years; she worked at VCU Health System in the cardiac surgery ICU, cardiac cath and EP labs, and most recently at the Carilion Clinic in cardiac rehab, providing cardiac education and exercise rehabilitation to patients.
We can all assume that her compassion, regard for her clients, and attention to detail were gifts Amber was born with but strengthened by her life’s choices. Amber loves working with people and building relationships; in fact, many of her clients have become lifelong friends.
Eric Gerner was born into a real estate family and was raised at Smith Mountain Lake. Eric’s father owned one of the first brokerages and engaged alongside the original developers of the area. Eric has a vast knowledge of the lake’s history. As he says, “When the land has a story to tell or its own history, its emotional value increases. Let’s face it; you should love the land you live on.”
He also has experience in remodeling and construction and personal experience in flipping for investment purposes. He is very quick to get things done and has superhuman listening skills. In this dynamic duo, Amber and Eric make an incredible team with their extensive market knowledge, forward thinking marketing, and fierce negotiating skills.
Eric has always loved wakeboarding and eventually became semi-professional at the sport. He later became a successful wakeboarding and snowboarding instructor and marveled everyone when he taught a blind lady snowboarding.
He eventually met Amber, who also grew up at the lake. This dynamic duo loves where they live and considers the lake itself part of their family, and affectionately attributes their success and happiness to its magic. They are happily married and reside in Roanoke with three children and a dog. The entire family loves living in the Roanoke Valley & the Blue Ridge Mountains and taking advantage of the endless outdoor activities, both on and off the water. When they’re not helping their clients, you can find them hiking, wake surfing, wakeboarding, eFoiling, paddle boarding, and of course, boating around the lake.
